Satellite images show that this latest volcanic explosion spewed out lava across a huge area of 300 sq km, a record of its kind according to researchers. The eruption of molten rock also prompted a minor earthquake – though there were no reported casualties or major damage in the remote area, many of whose inhabitants are nomadic people. The same couldn’t be said in 2005, when thousands were displaced by a catastrophic eruption that darkened the skies for days, while lava flows in 2007 forced further evacuations.

  something about upside down plants really strikes me as beautiful and intriguing. but i am low on funds, so i decided to try making my own with leftover containers from the various food items that make their way through my kitchen. surprisingly, there are a lot of container options for these nifty planters! the best are tins cans with plastic lids (items that usually come in these include coffee, instant cocoa mix, fiber drink mix, basically anything powdered or loose…yum!) or good old plastic bottles- the very symbol of consumer vs. environment. i researched tirelessly on the internet for some tips of upside down planters and saw many methods, but in the end i decided to combine some things and experiment with a few other ideas to come up with my own way which has worked out quite nicely. these are cheap, easy to make, and have had good results so far. i feel for you urban gardeners out there with no outdoor space, and i hope these can bring some green into y...

Dennis Nilsen   Taking the lives of 15 boys and men over a five year period from 1978 to 1983, some being homeless, others who he met in pubs, Nilsen’s first victim’s fate was sealed on 29th December 1978 when he was invited to go to Nilsen’s garden flat after meeting him in a London pub. In an effort to stop the man from leaving the next morning, Nilsen strangled him with a tie whilst he was still sleeping, before drowning him. He then proceeded to wash the victim prior to disposing of the body under the floorboards, something he came to use regularly, along with wardrobes, basin units and garden sheds. By 1981, Nilsen had killed 12 people at his current flat and in 1982 he moved to a top floor flat in Muswell Hill, London.
